EPOCH 1995

"As mankind enters the new millenium, future forms of public transportation can only be left to the imagination and the technological achievements of an age that looks toward the universe. From the dawn of mankind, the center of transportation has been with man himself. Whether walking, encased in transport systems, or 'beamed' to distant places, it is the mind and body of man that imagines, invents, and travels. My work at the MTA Headquarters is grounded in the earthly modes of transportation (through the over 400 20th Century transportation postcards that form an image of part of our planet as viewed from space) and hopefully lifted in spirit to the nature of transportation to come (through the images of 'universal' entities and the human form). Epoch is not a celebration of technology itself, but I think of the piece in homage to mankind.
